NEW! pottery workshops in Derby

Join Elaine for NEW fun and relaxed ceramics workshops to be held in various locations in in my hometown of Mickleover DERBY.

We will learn a variety of hand - building and glazing techniques with a different activity every session, this could be anything from ceramic tiles to making animal sculptures ( you are also welcome to work on your own projects ). This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill and meet new people in a creative and friendly environment.

Designed as regular sessions you may make a piece in one session and glaze/ paint your amazing creation in another.

Whether your new to clay or you have lots of experience all abilities are welcome. Children from age 6 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult please contact me with any queries regarding accessibility.

Included in the price of each session is the use of my equipment and tools, clay for the activity and all firing and glazing. Extra items like more or different clays can be purchased during the workshop via cash or card payment.

FAQ’s :

Q : I have no experience of clay, will i enjoy your workshops?

A : Of course! my workshops will suit anyone who is willing to learn a new skill and have fun, the themes and makes for each session will be designed to be easy to pick up so you can be as creative or challenged as you would like. You can even come with your own project and work on that in one or over several sessions.

Q : I have lots of experience of clay, why should i come to your workshops?

A : Great! you are most welcome to come and create your own projects or work to your own themes, if you need help or advice it will be given as and when needed. The workshop fee is all inclusive of clay, glazes and firing ( although if you want to make lots/go bigger more clay is available to purchase ) so its a perfect way to keep your passion for clay going.

Q : i cannot make every workshop, will i still enjoy the sessions?

A : That is absolutely no problem, i will have a different theme/set make for each session but this is not an in depth course. We are learning basic ceramic skills that allow you to make anything you would like, so attendance sporadically is fine!

Q : Can i make something and then glaze it in the same workshop?

A : Technically Clay needs to be completely dried and fired in a kiln ( called the bisque firing ) before it can be glazed. My workshops are designed as a regular pop in sessions, but if you are only able to make one session i will fire and glaze a piece in one colour for you ( to collect later or p&p available at extra cost ). Ideally you can come to two more sessions where you can make in one then glaze in another.

Q : i would like to come with friends, family or children is this ok?

A : Yes of course! all are welcome, please do book via my website or my eventbrite page to guarantee a place. If you have a very large group please do contact me as a private session may be more suited to your needs, or i can block book spaces for you. Please be aware Young children will need to have an adult or parent attending too these are open sessions and i will not be able to supervise or guarantee there safety.
